MARE 2018

BUFFALO BRIDGE GALLERY

For how long have we lived as strangers to ourselves, just to please the world?

The story of seven lives intertwined, each struggling to find their true identity amidst a world and circumstances that refuse to be kind. Inspired by the Thai folk tale Kaew Na Ma, a woman with a horse’s head and a human body, this story explores the purgatory between two worlds. She serves as a symbol of being trapped between dualities, struggling to shed an image to achieve a status she never asked for. It reflects the human condition of forced submission: the inability to transcend social expectations, rigid traditions and environment to become who we truly desire to be.
